One of my favourite things is discovering a blog from a friend or colleague. It feels like reading their diary, even if it's something they're publicly sharing and would happily chat to me about. This feels especially exciting with friends whom my interactions are usually just casual. Rarely do I interact with their intellectual or creative thoughts, so a blog or YouTube channel can be a fun way to see a new side of them.
Consuming a friend's content only expands my opinion and respect for them, and never leaves me thinking that it was cringe or a waste of time to read. (Calling this out because that's how I sometimes feel about my blog.)
The following quote gets this point across very well:
“In each of my friends there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself I am not large enough to call the whole man into activity; I want other lights than my own to show all his facets... Hence true Friendship is the least jealous of loves. Two friends delight to be joined by a third, and three by a fourth, if only the newcomer is qualified to become a real friend. They can then say, as the blessed souls say in Dante, "Here comes one who will augment our loves." For in this love "to divide is not to take away.” -- C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
This is part of a series where I try to improve my writing. My first draft had the following mistakes which I worked on:
- Basic spelling and grammar mistakes - fixed by making sure I re-read my writing
 - Starting sentences with 'I' - fixed by rewriting the sentences, so none of them start with 'I'
 - AI (at least Claude) was surprisingly bad at giving good and consistent feedback to improve my writing
 - Overall a little unhappy with the end result - it doesn't feel like me
